Electron-Phonon vs Electron-Electron Interactions in Low-Dimensional Solids
We present a general method to investigate the effect of electron-phonon coupling on the vibrational spectra of low-dimensional solids. The method, originally developed to deal with charge transfer crystals, is extended to conjugated polymers and to metal-halogen chains. We show that quadratic electron-phonon coupling is essential to properly define the reference state and to determine sets of transferable e-ph coupling constants.
