Solid solutions of lead-doped bismuth layer of Aurivillius n=2 and n=3 oxides : Structural and dielectric characterization
This work describes powdered materials belonging to the Aurivillius oxide family (Bi2O2)(A(n-1)B(n)O(3n+1)), for n = 2 and n = 3, and provides an approach for understanding the structural evolution with composition. Five kinds of solid solutions, Bi2-xPbxSr2Nb2TiO12-x/2, Bi2-yPbySr1-yLayNb2O9, Bi2-zPbzSrNb2-zMozO9, Bi2-uPbuSr2-uLauNb2TiO12, and Bi2-vPbvSr2 Nb2+vTi1-vO12 were studied. The new material Bi2Sr2Nb2TiO12, as well as its structural evolution when Pb2+ is placed in Bi sites and the loss of charge is compensated by doping in A or B sites, is described. A study of ferropiezoelectric behavior in Bi2Sr2Nb2TiO12 and Bi1.5Pb0.5Sr2Nb2TiO11.75 samples is discussed.
