Particle-Size of Bi-2-Propanol and Au-2-Propanol Colloids
Bi-2-propanol and Au-2-propanol colloids have been prepared by chemical liquid deposition (CLD). The metals are evaporated to yield atoms which are solvated to yield metal atoms at 77 K, and, upon warming, stable liquid colloids are formed with a narrow range of particle size depending on the time and room temperature. Zeta potentials were calculated for these negatively charge particles according to the Hunter convention and the Huckel equation. A study of particle size growth at room temperature was performed. The Bi particle size was followed at t = 0, 30, 60, 90, and 120 min and Au particle size was followed at t = 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 days, by transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
