Kinetics of the Alkylation of Phenol with Methanol over Magnesium-Aluminum Calcined Hydrotalcites
Vapour phase alkylation of phenol with methanol over magnesium-aluminium calcined hydrotalcites (MgAl-CHT) with an Mg/Al atomic ratio of 3-10 has been investigated in detail and reported previously. This study concerns the evaluation of the kinetic parameters such as the activation energy (E(a)) and Arrhenius frequency factor (In A(0)) for the disappearance of phenol employing the Power law equation assuming pseudo first order kinetics. The kinetic parameters were found to be in good agreement with the specific activity of the catalysts. The existence of the compensation effect between E(a) and In A(0) has been tested.
