Aramid fibres offer tire makers the opportunity to reduce the weight of bead rings substantially and at the same time offer good performance levels. Several processes exist for bead manufacture using this material, but investigations have shown that winding untwisted aramid filament yarn together with a thermoplastic matrix provide the optimum solution.
