A new way to polymer bound antioxidants - Technologically simple and efficient
The widespread use of polymer-bound antidegradants in rubber compounding will depend on reliable methods of binding antidegradants to general purpose rubbers. Only such a method gives the flexibility to fit the antidegradant to the specific use of the compound. Newly developed compounds fulfil this requirement: They can be used in the same way as conventional antioxidants resulting in high grafting rates. The rubber-bound part of the additive is non-extractable and protects the rubber even after extensive contact to oils, fuels or other fluids which can extract the additives. The loss of antidegradants directly to the environment as well as staining can be minimized.
