Advantages of elastomeric metallocene catalyzed polyolefin foams
The paper discusses some features and benefits of utilizing metallocene foams for the replacement of PVC, elastomeric PUR, EPDMs, and conventional PP foams in automotive interiors and other industrial applications, Some of the foams that will be presented are elastomeric metallocene rubber, continuous metallocene rubber, and flexible metallocene PP foam. One of the driving forces behind the technical success of the metallocene foams to date has been the flexibility of the elastomeric metallocene resins which are defined as having a specific gravity below 0.89, These elastomeric materials have been manufactured into foams for the automotive interiors and gasketing markets and the foam formulations can be tailored to meet specific performance requirements.
