The determination of the order of layer switching for two different technologically interesting multilayer systems, NiFe/Cu/Co and Co/Cr/Co, is accomplished by monitoring changes in the angular dependence of the magnetic contributions to the soft x-ray resonant magnetic scattering asa function of applied field.
