Effects of SnO2 on the phosphor screen behaviors under low energy electron excitation
The behaviors of Y2O3:Eu phosphor screen under low-energy electron excitation were investigated, A phosphor screen was deposited by an electrophoretic method, thereafter transparent tin oxide was implanted in this screen by electroplating. It was found that incorporation of a small quantity of tin oxide onto the phosphor screen not only improves cathodoluminescent efficiency, but also reduces screen degradation. These results are presumably due to the prevention of charge accumulation on the surface of phosphors. Another positive effect is the enhancement of adhesion force of powder phosphors onto the indium-tin oxide coated glass.
