One Ligand, One Metal, Seven Oxidation States: Stable Technetium Complexes with the "Klaui Ligand"
A series of technetium complexes with (eta(5)-cyclopentadienyl)tris(dimethyl phosphito-P)cobaltate(III), also known as the "Klaui ligand" {L-OMe}(-), has been prepared. The products span seven different oxidation states (+1 to +7) of the radioactive transition metal and comprise nitrosyl, halide, oxido and nitrido complexes. All members of this series ([Tc-I(NO)Cl(PPh3)-(L-OMe)], [Tc-II( NO)Cl-2(L-OMe)], [(TcCl2)-Cl-III( PPh3)(L-OMe)], [(TcCl3)-Cl-IV(L-OMe)], [(TcOCl2)-O-V(L-OMe)], [(TcNCl)-N-V(PPh3)(L-OMe)], [(TcNCl2)-N-VI(L-OMe)], and [(TcO3)-O-VII(L-OMe)] are air- and water-stable compounds, which recommends this class of technetium complexes as potential candidates for nuclear medical imaging procedures.
