Oxygen-Ion Diffusion in the 80-K Phase Bipbsrcacuo Superconductor
A solid-state electrochemical cell of yttria-stabilized zirconia was employed to determine the oxygen ion conductivity and thus oxygen ion diffusion in the 80 K phase (2212) BiPbSrCaCuO superconductor via impedance measurements in the temperature range 500 less than or equal to T less than or equal to 850 degrees C. The corresponding oxygen ion diffusivities were calculated. The activation energies determined were 1.2 to 1.25 eV at 500 less than or equal to T less than or equal to and 2.52 to 2.69 eV at 800 less than or equal to T less than or equal to 850 degrees C.
