Aldol condensation of acetone in an undivided cell via electrochemical catalyzed reaction
Aldol condensation of acetone was explored in the undivided cell by electrolysis. The results revealed that the yield of diacetone alcohol was mainly affected by the types of electrolyte, concentration of acetone and reaction temperature. On the other hand, electricity passed, current density and concentration of KCl were the minor factors. At the optimum condition, the yield of diacetone alcohol was 1150 g-F-1. In the absence of solvent, the formation rate of diacetone alcohol by using a graphite as anode material is faster than that of Pt anode.
