Fibronectin Coating on Implant Material Surface Attracted Both Osteoblasts and Bacteria
The responses of fibronectin (Fn) immobilized Ti alloy surface were investigated in view of both cell and bacteria adhesion. While Fn-immobilized Ti interface induced osteoblast adhesion, the interface also induced Streptococcus mutans adhesion. The present results suggest that a reconsideration of the necessity for Fn coating is warranted for high-performance biomaterial construction.
