Reduction of Cr(VI) and 4-nitrophenol in aqueous media using N-heterocyclic palladium complex immobilized on the nano Fe3O4@SiO2 as a magnetically recyclable catalyst
In the present work, the organic palladium complex ((1-phenyl-1H-tetrazole-5-thiol)palladium(II)) was immobilized on the nano Fe3O4@SiO2 using (3-chloropropyl)trimethoxysilane. The [Fe3O4@SiO2-Tet-thio-Pd(II)] as a novel, efficient and reusable catalyst was fully characterized using different techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, FE-SEM, EDS, VSM, and TG-DTA. This heterogeneous catalytic system exhibited excellent activity in the catalytic reduction of Cr(VI) and 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) in aqueous media. The catalytic activities of the [Fe3O4@SiO2-Tet-thio-Pd(II)] in reactions were monitored by using UV Vis spectroscopy. Moreover, the catalyst could be recovered and reused five times without any remarkable loss of its catalytic activity.
