Degradation of Rhodamine B by contact glow discharge electrolysis with Fe3O4/BiPO4 nanocomposite as heterogeneous catalyst
Fe3O4/BiPO4 nanocomposite was introduced into contact glow discharge electrolysis (CGDE) to accelerate the degradation of Rhodamine B (RhB). Under the optimal conditions, the degradation rate of 15 mg/L RhB solution was 94% after 40 min CGDE treatment with 0.50 g/L Fe3O4/BiPO4 catalyst, which was much higher than that (42%) without Fe3O4/BiPO4. The hydroxyl radical ((OH)-O-center dot) played a dominant role in CGDE+Fe3O4/BiPO4. The possible mechanism was proposed and the reusability of Fe3O4/BiPO4 was also investigated. Fe3O4/BiPO4 catalyst showed the better reusability and the degradation rates achieved 55% after 5 runs. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
