Solubility of poly(ethylene glycol)nonylphenyl ether in supercritical carbon dioxide
The solubility of (polyethylene glycol)nonylphenyl ether (PEG-NPE) of weight average molar mass 2500 g/mol in supercritical carbon dioxide was studied and the effects of the main parameters, such as pressure, temperature, and solvent density, were evaluated. The individual i-mer partition coefficients were obtained for all polymer compositions. The kinetics of supercritical extraction of PEG-NPE in a stirred batch contactor were studied also. The polymer extraction rate was investigated as a function of the agitator speed. Mass transfer coefficients of the polymer and those of three selected fractions in a solvent-rich phase were evaluated.
