Ionic Conductivity of Li3.4V0.6Si0.4O4 Ceramic Containing LiBO2 Glass as Solid Electrolyte
Li3.4V0.6Si0.4O4 (LVSO) ceramic electrolyte was synthesized using solid state reaction method by mixing Li4SiO4 and Li3VO4 in 40:60 molar ratio. LiBO2 glass was added to LVSO ceramic sample to study its effect on sintering temperature and ionic conductivity. It has been observed that with 1 wt% glass addition the density of the ceramic increased and beyond 1 wt% glass content it decreased. Further, the glass addition reduced the sintering temperature of the ceramic by 350 degrees C and increased the ionic conductivity by more than two and half orders of magnitude. The ceramic sample with 1 wt% LiBO(2 )glass, sintered at 700 degrees C has the highest ionic conductivity of 6.13 x 10(-5) Scm(-1) at ambient temperature. This ceramic composition has a potential for being used as solid electrolyte for solid state battery. (C) 2018 The Electrochemical Society.
