Continuous Time Formulation for Magnetic Relaxation Using the Steinmetz Equation
This paper sets forth a new magnetic core loss model to predict core loss in electric machines and power electronic magnetic components. It introduces an alternative method to model magnetic relaxation using a continuous waveform formulation, which significantly improves the accuracy of core loss prediction for arbitrarily complex flux density waveforms. The proposed method is experimentally validated for ferrites and silicon steels.
