Six hydrogels were produced by composing chitosan and gelatine with poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate, 2-hydroxy-2-methyl-propiophenone and (NH4)S2O8 under UV or microwave irradn. and studied for swelling, surface structure and wettability. The UV irradn. yielded products of higher applicability than the microwave one.
