Catalytic ignition of H-2/O-2 mixtures on platinum: Ignition temperatures and postignition transients
We report experimental and theoretical studies of the transient behavior of the catalyst temperature during ignition of H-2/O-2 mixtures on a platinum catalyst. The numerical simulations are based on a kinetic scheme of the reaction and a linear model of mass and heat transfer in the gas phase. We find a good agreement between experiment and theory. The influence of kinetic phase transitions on the ignition process is discussed.
