Blends of bituminous coal and charcoal with additives (wheat starch, scrap paper, polysaccharides, waste cakes) were briquetted in lab. and exptl. granulators and in a screw extruder. The briquettes showed compressive strength 100-4600 N/g, combustion heat above 24 MJ/kg, ash content below 10% and sinterability (Roga index) below 1. The briquettes made of bituminous coal (90%) and scrap paper (10%) showed the highest compression strength.
