Granular carbon dioxide sorbent preparation for cyclic operations
CO2 emission is a big issue related to the global warming. CO2 removal from the flue gas or the biogas for further applications is also an important work to reduce CO2 emission. In this study, the granular porous solid CO2 sorbent was prepared. Montmorillonite was used as the binder and mixed with CaO to form the solid sorbent. Current results revealed that 22.51 wt% of CO2 can be captured into the solid sorbent and 38.65% of CaO was used for CO2 adsorption in the single cycle operation. For the long-term stability test, 12.30 wt% of CO2 can be captured into the solid sorbent at 700 degrees C and 11.55 wt% of CO2 can also be captured and the sorbent remained granular format after 5 cycles. The L9 (3(4)) Taguchi orthogonal array was adapted for the experimental design to prepare the solid sorbent in this study. (C) 2017 Hydrogen Energy Publications LLC. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
