Optical properties of Eu-doped and Eu-Gd Co-doped CsMgCl3: Temperature dependence of rate constants for D-5(2) and D-5(1) cross relaxation in-symmetric Eu(III)-Eu(III) pairs
The luminescence properties of Eu in Eu-doped and Eu-Gd co-doped CsMgCl3 are reported. Emission is observed from EU2+, EU3+ in symmetric pairs and EU3+ in, what appears to be higher-order "clusters" of lanthanide ions. Rate constants for cross relaxation out of D-5(1) and D-5(2) are reported over the temperature ranges of 10-373 K and 10-298 K, respectively,'for the symmetric Eu-Eu pair. The branching of 5D2 cross relaxation between D-5(2)-->D-5(1) and D-5(2)-->D-5(0) is also reported.
