Photoelectrochemical and photocatalytic activities of bilayered TiO2/Ga:WO3 photoelectrode by spray pyrolysis technique
WO3, Ga:WO3 and bilayered TiO2/Ga:WO3 photocatalysts are synthesized by spray pyrolysis technique. Synthesized films are characterized by various characterization techniques such as structural, morphological and photoelectrochemical properties. Synthesized films are polycrystalline in nature. The TiO2/Ga:WO3 photoelectrode exhibits highest photocurrent density (1569 mu A/cm(2)) than that of pure WO3 and Ga:WO3 films due the prevent the recombination of photogenerated electron-hole pairs. Photoelectrocatalytic activities of WO3, Ga:WO3 and bilayered TiO2/Ga:WO3 photoelectrodes are tested for photodegradation of salicylic acid as a model organic pollutant. The results show that the bilayered TiO2/Ga:WO3 photocatalyst has an efficient photocatalytic ability as compared to pure WO3 and Ga:WO3 photocatalysts. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
