The role of Ba concentration on the structural characteristics and electrical conductivities of BaxCe0.9Y0.1O3-alpha
BaxCe0.9Y0.1O3-alpha (x = 0.85 similar to 1.10) perovskite oxides were prepared, the XRD data reveals that, the raw material CeO2 were found in the specimens, while the contents of Ba x below 1. According to the data of SEM and EDS, the grain interiors size of BaxCe0.9Y0.1O3-alpha, increase with Ba content increasing and none of Ba, Ce, Y enrichment around grain boundaries are observed. At 300 similar to 900 degrees C, the total conductivities sigma(tot) and bulk conductivities sigma(b) of Ba1.05Ce0.9Y0.1O3-alpha are the highest among these samples. The specific grain boundary conductivities sigma(s.p.g.b) of BaxCe0.9Y0.1O3-alpha increases with the increasing of Ba concentration, when the Ba content x is lower than 1.00, and sigma(s.p.g.b) vary little with Ba content x, when x is higher than 1.00. In humidity air, the bulk conduction of BaxCe0.9Y0.1O3-alpha is mostly OHO center dot conduction, the s.p.g.b. conduction of BaxCe0.9Y0.1O3-alpha may be OHO center dot, V-O(center dot center dot) and h(center dot) mixture conductions.
