Enhancement of biogas production from wastewater using a batch anaerobic process
In this paper, optimization of batch biogas production from kitchen wastewater (WW) using an anaerobic process was investigated. The effect of pH, digestion time, volume of sample, rotation speed and temperature of the process was studied and optimized using the Taguchi method. Sixteen experiments were required to study the effect of parameters on the yield of biogas. Each experiment was repeated three times to calculate the signal/noise (S/N) ratio. The study's results showed that the initial pH and rotation speed of the process were the most effective parameters comparison with others. This study also optimized the experimental parameters and chose the best condition by determining the effective factors. Based on the S/N ratio, the optimized conditions for maximum biogas yield (9 mL/L) were pH of 5, digestion time of 26 days, volume of 1L sample, rotation speed of 120 rpm, and temperature of 55 degrees C.
