Electronegativity and Static Electric-Dipole Polarizability of Atomic Species - A Semiempirical Relation
A quantitative relation between the static electric dipole polarizability (alpha) and the electronegativity of an atomic species is developed semiempirically. It emerges that the quantity (q + 1)(1/alpha)(1/3) can be used as a new measure of the electronegativity of an atomic species with charge q greater than or equal to 0 quite effectively.
