Mechanical properties of calcium phosphate biomaterials
Calcium phosphate biomaterials were used to repair bone defects as prosthetic coatings. Powders and bioceramics from hydroxyapatite and beta-tricalcium phosphate were fabricated using a low-cost process and characterized with different techniques. Their thermal stability and mechanical properties were investigated under water environment. This study was to investigate the effect of water moieties to cause permanent damage to calcium phosphate bioceramics by determining their mechanical properties changes.
