Light-Scattering-Studies of Simple Molecular Supercooled Liquids - Structural Considerations
The integrated intensities of several distinctive features of the VH, VV, and isotropic light-scattering spectra of triphenyl phosphite and o-terphenyl have been measured for temperatures ranging from above melting to well into the supercooled liquid regime. These intensities can be associated with structural (nondynamic) properties of the liquid, and the results are examined to see whether any quantity related to an order parameter can be discerned and whether any "critical" anomalies can be detected in the structural parameters. The conclusion is "maybe".
