Evaluation of the Dynamic Surface-Tension of Alkylphosphine Oxides
In this paper, a comprehensive survey about a new method for the solution of the Ward and Tordai equation is presented. The method is applied for describing the kinetic behavior of two different surfactant solutions. Their equilibrium surface tension sigma(e)-concentration C isotherms are well described with a new approach of surface equation of state that was presented in a previous paper.(1) Not only does this allow one to describe the entire equilibrium surface tension-concentration isotherm but it can also be used to describe the dynamic surface tensions by the Ward and Tordai equation(2) quite well. The dynamic surface behavior of the two surfactant systems reveals a diffusion-controlled adsorption kinetics. From this evaluation, we are confident that we can solve the integral equation of Ward and Tordai for any type of surface equation of state by computer. This method can be used to estimate the kinetic adsorption process of surfactant solutions more conveniently.
