Infrared spectra of matrix-isolated 2,3-didehydrogenated naphthalene, C10H6, have been observed. C10H6 was prepared by UV irradiating 2,3-naphthalene anhydride isolated in inert gas matrices at 4 K. Good agreement between theoretical calculations by Pauzat, Talbi, and Ellinger and the observed spectra was found.
