Reaction of Chemisorbed No with Dissolved D/Pd(111) - Production of D2O
The reaction of chemisorbed NO with D, placed (by annealing) into the bulk of Pd(lll), has been studied. The desorption of the reaction product, D2O, occurs in the temperature range similar to 420-600 K, as D is supplied from the bulk of Pd(111). A comparison with the reaction of O(a) and D from the bulk is made. The reaction of bulk D with either NO(a) (or its decomposition product, O(a)) or with O(a) itself is very efficient as judged by the rate of D consumption by reaction.
