Enhanced Sensitivity of Nanostructured Copper Oxide for Non-Enzymatic Glucose Biosensing
The present work describes a facile synthesis of candy like nanostructured copper oxide (NCO). A simple wet precipitation method was employed to synthesize NCO. The synthesized NCO was characterized using X-ray diffraction, UV-vis spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and electron microscopy. Glucose sensing of synthesized NCO was done using a three electrode electrochemical workstation. The NCO showed enhanced sensitivity of 1729 mu AmM-1 cm(-2) with a detection limit of 0.9 mu M. The sensor also showed good selectivity toward glucose in the presence of interfering agents and also had accordance with the pathology lab data when tested in real blood samples.
