Weak H-Bonding by 2nd-Row (PH3, H2S) and 3rd-Row (Ash3, H2Se) Hydrides
The properties of weak hydrogen-bonded complexes composed of simple hydride molecules of the elements of the second and third rows (PH3, AsH3, H2S, and H2Se) are reviewed. The results of theoretical methods (ab initio calculations) and experimental analyses (molecular beam microwave spectroscopy, IR matrix isolation spectroscopy, and IR spectroscopy in conventional and cryosolutions) are used. The spectroscopic, structural, and energetic features of hydride-water and hydride-ethanol H-complexes measured directly in hydrides are discussed.
