Mathematical Modeling of Particle Formation in Drum Granulators
Particle formation in rotating drums is widely used in solids processing. Formation processes taking place in the drum can be numerous with complex and coupled influence on the product quality. Neglecting these couplings may lead to reduced productivity or product quality. In this work, based on a population balance approach taking into account spatial dependencies and particle properties, the influence of operating conditions and apparatus design parameters on product quality is investigated.
