An Effect of Vortex Flow on Fluxes in Ultrafiltration Plate-Frame Modules
Concentration polarization is one of the main limitations of permeate flux through membranes. A membrane configuration, which induces a rotational shear in addition to the normal axial shear, has been developed to reduce the effect of concentration polarization. Experimental results show a significant reduction in the polarization layer when compared with identical membranes without the introduced rotational shear. Permeation fluxes through the improved membrane configuration increased by up to 2.1 times.
