Radio-photoluminescence of Ag-doped Li3PO4-Al(PO3)(3) Glass
We report a radio-photoluminescence (RPL) oxide glass with a new composition: 30Li(3)PO(4)-70Al(PO3)(3)-0.5Ag(2)O. The as-prepared sample, prepared by a conventional melt-quenching method, only shows a PL emission at 425 nm upon excitation at 340 nm; however, after X-ray irradiation, an additional PL emission is observed around 630 nm. The latter PL intensity linearly increases as a function of the X-ray dose delivered, which is an evidence of RPL. The dose response was confirmed to be over 0.1-20 Gy. The PL decay constant of the present Ag-doped glass is longer than the conventional Na-containing dosimeter. The newly developed RPL glass will surely be a candidate for dosimeters.
