Nanofiber Formation by the Self-assembly of an Ampholyte Poly(amino acid)
Self-assembling nanofibers are produced by coiled-coil a single ampholyte poly(amino acid) using its intermolecular electrostatic interactions and hydrogen bonding. The resultant morphology is reported using an arginine-modified poly(alpha-L-glutamic acid) polymer. The self-complexation of ampholyte poly(amino acid) was induced by the ionization of oppositely charged groups along with a dialysis process, leading to produce the self-assembly of poly(amino acid) nanofibers.
