Several new betainium-type ionic liquids were prepared as bis(trifiuoromethylsulfonyl)amide salts through methylation of amino acids and anion exchange with HTf2N. Physical properties such as hydrophobicity, viscosity, solubility, and acidity of these ILs were evaluated.
