Effect of Interfacial Curvature on Marangoni Instability at Water-Oil Interface
This study investigated Marangoni instability at the interface of water-oil biphasic systems with the reversal of the interfacial curvature. In a straight glass tube, a periodic Marangoni flow is observed when the oil phase is convex, but it is not observed when the aqueous phase is convex. The interface curvature is proposed as a novel condition for the occurrence of Marangoni instability.
