The standard technique for describing the attenuation through glass is to use the extinction coefficient in Beer's law. What is demonstrated here is that a simpler model that uses a single number for absorptivity of the glass to normal incident radiation is fully satisfactory. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
