Stability of collagen separated from calf skin and used in cosmetic products during storage
Six shower gels and six cosmetic oil-in-water emulsions were prepd. by addn. of 1, 3 or 6% by mass of lyophilized or non-lyophilized collagen sepd. from 2-months old calf skin and studied for collagen stability during storage for 2 years by detn. of hydroxyproline content. All tested cosmetics were stable during the full period of studies. Lyophilization did not influence negatively the stability of collagen and can be used as an alternative process in corn. practice.
