Critical Heat Flux Correlations in Uniformly Heated Vertical Round Tube
A study for evaluating the critical heat flux(CHF) correlations in a uniformly heated vertical tube has been conducted. A few representative published correlations are analyzed using our database which contained 5,915 uniformly heated round tube CHF data points which are collected from world literature. A comparative analysis is made on the available correlations and a new correlation is presented. The new CHF correlation consists of only local variables, namely, "tube" mass quality, mass flux, tube diameter, and two parameters as a function of pressure only. The new correlation predicts the CHF condition significantly better than those currently available correlations.
