We have synthesized novel dichroic azo dye with a UV absorbing moiety and then prepared PVA-dye polarizing film by dyeing process. The polarization efficiency and transmittance of PVA-dye polarizing film were investigated from the measurements of UV-Visible. Especially, the shielding effects for UV light and durability were studied.
