Characterizations and synergistic catalytic activity of bimetallic Al-Fe-TUD-1
Amorphous 3D mesoporous silicate TUD-1 was incorporated with monometallic Al3+, Fe3+ and bimetallic Al3+-Fe3+ by direct one pot synthesis. The incorporation of these metal ions created both Lewis and Bronsted acid sites. A synergy between Al and Fe sites in TUD-1 was noticed and is found responsible for observed higher activity in the synthesis of 1,4-dihydropyridine and beta-amino carbonyl compounds through Hantzsch and Mannich reactions respectively.
