Microstructure and mechanical properties of MIM213 superalloy
MIM213 superalloy was fabricated by metal injection molding in conjunction with hot isostatic pressing. The densification behavior and supersolidus liquid phase sintering mechanism were discussed. The evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of the superalloy during sintering and heat treatments were characterized. Near full dense MIM213 superalloy is achieved after vacuum sintering at 1235 degrees C and HIPing at 1150 degrees C. MIM213 superalloy is characterized by discrete grain boundary boride, internally precipitated borides, uniformly distributed gamma' phase (124 nm), and equiaxed grain size (39 mu m). At room temperature, the tensile strength, yield strength and ductility of MIM213 superalloy are 1252 MPa, 906 MPa and 12.6%, respectively, which are much higher than that of the cast K213 superalloy.
