Decomposition of Phenol with ozonation
This study was conducted to remove the polluted wastewater with phenol by only ozonation and O3/OH- oxidation systems. Phenol could be more effectively removed by only ozonation than O3/OH- oxidation system, it indicated that phenol was selectively and preferencely reacted with ozone. In the removal of organic pollutants which were triggered by phenol, such as TOC and CODcr, O3/OH- oxidation system such as oxalic acid, glyoxalic acid, glyoxal and formic acid were effectively removed by hydroxyl radical(·OH).
