Solid liquid equilibrium of NaCl + HOCH2COONa + H2O system from (283.15 to 353.15) K
This work reports the solubility and density of a ternary solid liquid equilibrium (SLE) system (NaCl + HOCH2COONa + H2O) from (283.15 to 353.15) K. The equilibrium solid phase was identified by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The phase diagrams at (283.15 and 353.15) K were thus plotted and discussed. In each phase diagram, there were only one invariant point, two boundary curves, and two crystalline areas in response to pure HOCH2COONa and NaCl. When comparing the phase diagram at 353.15 K with that at 283.15 K, it shows that the crystallization region of sodium glycolate is decreased remarkably and that of sodium chloride is obviously increased. The reported data of liquid composition and density as well as phase diagrams of this solid liquid equilibrium system can be used for the separation of sodium glycolate from its sodium chloride aqueous solution in industry.
