Cleaning of Low Quality Lignite by Flocculation Technology
The first challenge is the reduction of ash in low quality lignite so that it is suitable for the production of energy. This study evaluates the feasibility of upgrading low quality lignite using the flocculation technique. The effect of different factors, such as time, pH, flocculation dose, and solid content on flocculation technique, has been studied. This article describes laboratory experiments conducted on the characterization of the low quality lignite before and after the flocculation process. It was found that the upgrading process produced coal with better heating value and combustion characteristics than those of the raw coal samples.
