The surface deterioration characteristics of ethylene propylene diene terpolymer(EPDM) and silicone rubber were applied as high voltage insulation materials. The experimental results show that EPDM can effectively improve the physical properties. EPDM rubber was inferior in weathering and tracking resistance to silicone rubber, whereas EPDM rubber was superior in high temperature aging resistance to silicone rubber.
